Any air traveler often faces flight delays. Yes, it’s more common in some airports than others but it is something that all air travelers have faced at one point or another.
Now, while this means that we’re losing time on the other end of the flight (given that they don’t fly faster to make up for it), it also means that we’re getting some extra time on this end of the flight- which we tend to end up just sitting around because we have nothing to do!
However, it might be surprising to know that there are a few things that we might still have to do at this point. The main things that can be done are as follows:
- Do research: While the flight has been delayed and you will take some more time to reach your destination, you’re still going there! So, you might just want to spend the extra time doing a little more research on your destination and save some time once you reach there! This is one of the best things to do in such a scenario.
- Get something to eat: We all know the difference between the food on flight and in the airport restaurants. While the restaurants inside the airport are really overpriced, it still might just be worth it in case of flight delays.
- Talk to the authorities about your connecting flight: If you were planning to catch another flight after reaching there, then a delay might disrupt your plans. In such a case, you might want to talk to the authorities to find out how they are going to balance it out for you.
- Contact your Travel Insurance Provider: If the delay is more than four hours, then the travel insurance you’ve been paying for finally comes into action. You can now call your travel insure provider and claim the sum of money that you’re entitled to for such a delay. You should call your travel insurance provider as soon as the four hours have passed.
